Open-call for Bulgarian art students and young professionals

180° and International Ensemble Modern Academy(Germany) are presenting the project “In-Situ: Friction”

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
“In-Situ: Friction” is a collaboration project between the 180° – Laboratory for Innovative Art Festival(Bulgaria) and the International Ensemble Modern Academy(Germany), which will create a partnership between the two organizations, allowing students from Germany and Bulgaria to explore the different cultural values ​​of the cities of Sofia and Frankfurt am Main, inspiring them to create innovative formats and cultural projects and meet different faces of the cities.


OBJECTIVE:
Creating innovative creative projects that remove the boundaries between different disciplines and genres and at the same time go beyond traditional methods of creating art. Supporting young artists by providing an environment that promotes freedom of creativity and the study of contemporary art trends.


PROGRAM:
The program will include collaboration with international students and implementation of joint innovative concepts in two phases in May (3 days) and July (7 days) in Sofia and a third phase in August (4-5 days) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany with covered travel costs. The project will offer participants an active educational program with lectures led by prominent interdisciplinary professionals, work in an online platform for the exchange of ideas, work on live projects within the 180° festival and Frankfurt. In case of national social restrictions, the project would be transformed into an online digital format.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? / WHO CAN APPLY?
We are looking for three students or young professionals up to 27 years old, from all fields of art, which will be selected by the 180° jury. The selected candidates will be announced on March 9th.

WHY?
“In-Situ: Friction” provides a unique opportunity for international collaboration with students from the International Ensemble Modern Academy, one of the most prestigious German program for contemporary music. Together with our partners we find a way to carry out this exchange even in very challenging world situations – when it is most needed because of the lower chances for exchange of professional experience with organisations outside Bulgaria.
